In
recent months, Google has surprised us with few changes in its search engine by
increasing width of main search result column. Google every day keeps updating
new things. But, Google has recently increased the available length for the
title tag and description tag which means now we can add more keywords to our
title or description. It’s very
important for SEO professionals to understand these things to take the
advantage in a good way.
How many characters can we fit into a
display title or description now?
Title Tag
– Title Tag has been increased from 50-60 to 70-71.
Meta Tag
– Meta descriptions have been extended by 100 characters per line and can go up
to 2 or 3. Maximum char limit for Meta description is 268-270.
Prominent changes for-:
Desktop-: All these years, we have been
writing our titles with no more than 55-60 characters. Today, Google has
finally made some changes and increased the titles to 70-71 characters. I know,
it doesn’t seem much, but at least you can still fit in another word or two in
your title, which will make a difference.
But
if you’re already happy with your current title, you can choose to add your
site name at the end of the title for branding purpose.
Mobile
Devices-: Google has increased the length of title from
75-78 so, if you are getting more traffic through mobile then you can keep
75-78 for your title tag but no changes for the length of description tag are
noticed yet.
Now,
it will be beneficial for all the SEO, they can now write a Title without any
cut. You just have a need to put important words in a title and rest you can
add in your Meta description.
It makes all so much easier, especially for
beginners to keep it all a bit more controlled.
